ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PRO SE LITIGANT E-FILING PILOT PROJECT
Division Two of the Court of Appeals will launch a pilot project, effective February 1, 2008, under which self-represented (pro se) litigants will be able to electronically file (e-file) with the court briefs and other documents and electronically access the record on appeal in their particular case. In order to do so, pro se litigants will first be required to register and certify that they meet all requirements for e-filing. Some of these requirements are listed below.
Pro Se e-filing requirements
1. Have a valid, functioning personal e-mail address that is kept current throughout the appeal process;
2. Furnish a current telephone number that will be used by the court clerk's office to verify identity of the litigant;
3. Certify that they have access to functioning computer hardware and software that is compatible with the court's e-filer system;
4. Certify that they have active, ongoing internet access (high-speed access is recommended);
5. Utilize Portable Document Format (PDF) for all e-filed briefs or other documents;
6. Utilize paragraph numbering, based on the system adopted by the Arizona Supreme Court (in Rule 124(f)), in all e-filed briefs or other documents.
Beginning February 1, 2008, pro se litigants who meet all of the above requirements and want to use the court's e-filer system in their particular case can register through a new link, labeled Pro Se Litigant Electronic Filing (pro se e-filer), on this court's website — www.appeals2.az.gov

The court will evaluate this pilot project after a sufficient test period has elapsed and then determine whether to continue the program on an ongoing basis, with or without modifications.
